The Region D Depot will soon be embarking on stabilising and reshaping gravel roads in “The Rock” in Naledi between the new Protea North-Naledi Bridge and the Drie Hoek train station, an area largely consisting of Reconstruction and Development Programme houses. About five streets will be stabilised. This is a new development where streets are not yet named.
The homes in this area were built prior to road infrastructure being completed resulting in the need for reshaping to occur so as to meet the quality and specifications of suburban roads.
Approximately 3.8km of road construction is planned for the area. Work to be undertaken includes importing gravel fills to stabilise and reshape roads. This will significantly improve the accessibility for The Rock residents as the roads are presently in a very bad state making it difficult for them to drive.
This project is part of the Letsema Project to resolve queries and work on service backlogs from all City of Johannesburg entities throughout all regions.
Work started on the 4th July 2016, and is projected to be completed in two weeks.
