Transport month was declared in 2005 and has since been used to raise awareness on the important role of transport in the economy and to encourage participation from civil society and business, including the provision of a safe and more affordable, accessible and reliable transport system in the country. Road uses are encouraged to use public transport, lift clubs, also to cycle and walk as part of transport month. The City of Joburg during transport month engage in campaigns, seminars and other activities that promote road safety and ideas on how best we can improve our transport systems and encourage communities to use public transport, lift clubs and other means of transport other than lone driving. The lesser cars we have on our roads the lesser emissions we will experience.
